The FRITZ!Box is Germany’s most popular home router, and for good reason: it distributes Wi-Fi, manages telephony, provides guest access and even controls smart home devices. This very richness of features makes setup a challenge for many people. Whether you have just got a new connection, want to get back online after moving house or simply want to get the most from your existing FRITZ!Box: as a home tech service in the Nordstemmen, Hildesheim and Leine valley area we come to you personally and set everything up step by step. You stay in the picture, because we explain every action calmly.

What We Take Care of During Router Setup
A FRITZ!Box offers much more than a simple Wi-Fi access point. We set up all the functions that truly matter for your everyday life and do not leave you facing a screen full of settings on your own. From first login to a finished network we explain every step, so after our visit you know how to make small changes yourself. We always work on your own device and your own connection, so in the end everything fits your home, your devices and your habits exactly. What that looks like locally is shown by tech help in Holle.
Optimal Wi-Fi setup
We set a secure network name and a strong password, choose the right wireless channel for your home and make sure the signal reaches all rooms.
Guest access setup
A separate guest Wi-Fi keeps visitors safely separated from your home network. We set it up, provide the credentials clearly and show you how to switch it on and off when needed.
Parental controls setup
With the FRITZ!Box you can set browsing times and blocked websites for individual devices. We configure parental controls so your children can surf safely without you having to intervene constantly.
Telephony setup
Register cordless phones, DECT bases and IP telephony via the FRITZ!Box, assign phone numbers and configure the answering machine: we handle all of this in one appointment.
Mesh for the whole home
Multiple FRITZ! devices can be linked into a mesh that distributes Wi-Fi evenly across several floors or large living areas. We set up the mesh so all devices remain seamlessly connected.
Security and updates
We update your FRITZ!Box firmware to the latest version, disable unnecessary services and make sure your router is well shielded from outside access.
When Does a Router Setup Make Sense?
There are many situations where a careful setup or a fresh start for your router makes everyday life considerably easier. Whether after a move, when changing provider or because the connection has become increasingly unstable: we look at the situation on site and solve the problem in a lasting way. You often notice the need in small things: the Wi-Fi drops in the evening, streaming stutters in the bedroom, the phone clings to the weakest signal or a new device simply refuses to connect. Such symptoms usually have a clear cause that can be found quickly on site. We take the time to sort things out properly once, instead of just pulling the plug and hoping it holds. This combines well with what we offer under switching to fibre.
- Commissioning a new internet connection and connecting the FRITZ!Box
- Setting up the router at a new location after moving house
- Forgotten Wi-Fi password and reconnecting all devices
- Setting up a guest network for visitors or holiday let guests
- Activating parental controls for the children’s tablet and phone
- Telephone system: registering cordless phones or DECT bases
- Setting up or extending a mesh with multiple FRITZ! devices
- Router update and security check after years of operation
The FRITZ!Box in Detail: What Is Actually Inside?
A Lot of Technology, Explained Clearly
More Than Just a Router
A FRITZ!Box combines router, Wi-Fi access point, telephone system and smart home hub in a single device. That sounds complicated at first, but it is a real advantage: you need no additional devices and manage everything from one place. We explain at the appointment which features are truly relevant for your daily life and set up exactly those. What you do not need we simply leave out.
- 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi usable simultaneously
- Telephone system for cordless phones (DECT) and IP telephony
- Guest network and parental controls without additional apps
- Mesh capability for seamless Wi-Fi coverage
- Smart home hub for compatible sockets and radiator valves
Older models are often still worth it
What Typical Router Appointments Look Like

The Key Points About Router Setup at a Glance
- Home-visit flat rate 79 € for up to 60 minutes, including travel within 10 km of Nordstemmen.
- Wi-Fi, guest access, parental controls, telephony and mesh are usually set up in one appointment.
- Every step is explained calmly, so you can make small changes yourself later.
- One personal contact instead of a call center, reachable even after the appointment.

Setting Up Wi-Fi, Guest Access and Parental Controls
The three functions customers ask us about most often are Wi-Fi optimisation, guest access and parental controls. All three can be configured directly in the FRITZ!Box user interface, but the right configuration takes some experience. We set up the Wi-Fi so it is distributed optimally in your home and explain how you can change the password yourself when needed. We separate the guest access cleanly from the home network so visitors can reach the internet but not your files or printer. Parental controls can be configured per device: you can set how many hours a day the children may browse and which websites should be blocked.
Setting Up Mesh: Wi-Fi on Every Floor
Anyone living in a multi-storey house or large flat knows the problem: the Wi-Fi from the FRITZ!Box on the ground floor barely reaches the upper floor. The solution is called mesh. Multiple FRITZ! devices work as a team, distributing the signal evenly everywhere. You always stay in a single network with a single password, no manual switching required. We set up the mesh at your place, explain where to put the additional devices for best effect and then test together with you whether the signal reaches everywhere. If you would like to know more about Wi-Fi in general, we also recommend our Wi-Fi optimisation service.
Mesh in a detached house
Cover the ground floor, upper floor and basement with a single Wi-Fi network. We explain which FRITZ! devices are suitable as mesh satellites and where they should be placed.
Mesh in a rented flat
Even in a large flat with several rooms a second FRITZ! repeater can improve the signal considerably. We choose the best position and set up the connection.
Powerline as an alternative
If Wi-Fi barely passes through solid walls, the signal can be routed via the power network instead. We advise you openly on which approach makes more sense for your home.
Setting Up Telephony via the FRITZ!Box
The FRITZ!Box is not only a router but also a fully featured telephone system. You can register cordless phones via DECT directly on the FRITZ!Box and operate up to six devices each with its own extension. We set up the phones, assign phone numbers and configure the built-in answering machine. If you also want to be reachable on your home number via your mobile, we explain how to do that with the FRITZ!App. For users switching from an older phone system to internet telephony the setup is sometimes a little more involved. We know the typical pitfalls and make sure your phone numbers are transferred correctly. On request we also show you how to store important numbers as speed dials, block unwanted marketing calls and set the answering machine so you can listen to messages comfortably on the phone or while out and about.
How Your Router Setup Appointment Works
You do not need to prepare anything or bring any prior knowledge. We come to you, look at the situation on site and set everything up together with you. Here is how a typical appointment goes:
Brief phone call in advance
You briefly describe what you need: new connection, lost password, mesh setup or something else. We arrange a time that suits you, including evenings or weekends. We give you an honest price estimate in advance.
Assessment on site
We look at your device, your connection and your living situation. Which rooms need good coverage? Are there phones to register? Are there children for whom a time schedule would be useful? We discuss calmly what you truly need.
Setup step by step
We set up Wi-Fi, guest access, telephony or mesh, depending on what was agreed. We explain every step so you know what is happening and how to adjust small things yourself later.
Testing together
We check together that all devices are on the network, the Wi-Fi reaches everywhere, the phones ring and the guest access works as intended. Only when everything runs are we done.
Note down login details
On request we write down your Wi-Fi name, password and the most important settings on a sheet of paper. That way you have everything to hand if you need it later or have guests.
Have your login details ready
Prefer a quick call over a long search?
Tell us on the phone what your FRITZ!Box should do. We give you an honest estimate of the effort and find a time that suits you, including evenings or weekends.
Set It Up Yourself, Remote Support or a Home Visit?
Three routes to a properly configured router, compared factually.
Home visit from Technik daheim
- Wi-Fi, guest access, parental controls and telephony in one appointment
- The router position is assessed on site
- Home-visit flat rate 79 €, price known in advance
- Access details written down in plain words
Remote support over the phone
- No travel and usually quickly available
- Cables, sockets and walls stay invisible
- Phones and extra devices easily fall by the wayside
- If the connection drops, the session ends
Doing it yourself
- Costs nothing but time
- The menus are extensive and full of jargon
- Telephony and phone numbers are the most common stumbling block
- Wrong settings only show up weeks later
Prices: What the Setup Costs
We work with a clear home-visit flat rate of 79 € for up to 60 minutes. In this time we set up all the main functions on most FRITZ!Boxes. For more extensive work, for example a multi-floor mesh with several devices or a telephony migration, each further hour costs 69 €. Travel within 10 km of Nordstemmen is included, beyond that we charge 0.50 € per kilometer. So there are no surprises at the end. All prices include value-added tax. Who We Are Here For
Our service is aimed at private households in the Hildesheim and Leine valley region who have no desire for technical manuals and endless hotline queues. We are particularly patient with seniors for whom new technology can feel confusing. There are no silly questions with us. Families ask us regularly too, because they want not only to set up Wi-Fi but also parental controls and a guest network for the grandparents at the same time. And anyone working from home often needs a stable network for home office use, video calls and VPN, which we can also configure. Just as often we are called by people who simply have no time or inclination to click through menus in the evening and would rather have the job done calmly, once, by someone who does it every day.
Personal rather than anonymous
What We Do Not Do: Clear Boundaries
So you know exactly what you get with us, we also explain what is not part of our service. We set up your FRITZ!Box and home network, but we are not a network operator and cannot make your internet connection faster if the contract is limited. If a device has a hardware fault, we identify that and tell you honestly what to do. Corporate networking, server solutions or complex business IT are not our area, though we are the right contact for home workplaces of self-employed people. You buy the FRITZ!Box itself from your retailer; we do not bring a device and earn nothing from the sale.
