If you would like to practise using it in more depth, one-to-one tuition at 59 € per 60 minutes or the five-session card for 269 € fits better. Each further hour during a home visit 69 €, travel within 10 km around Nordstemmen included.
Since the beginning of 2025, the statutory health insurers in Germany have been creating an electronic patient record for their members unless they have objected (Federal Ministry of Health). It is used through an app provided by the respective insurer. That is exactly where the difficulty starts for many households: find the app, create an account, prove your identity, enter a PIN, understand permissions. Those are many steps in a row, and each single one can get stuck. We from Technik daheim help with the technical side only: we install the app on your device, guide you through signing in, explain the interface and practise with you how to view documents. What belongs in your record, which contents make sense for you and whether you wish to object is entirely your decision, together with your health insurer and your doctor's practice. You will find a detailed overview in our guide on setting up the electronic patient record. If you would like to use your phone more confidently in general, the smartphone course, the data protection course and setting up a password manager fit well alongside.

What We Do for Your Electronic Patient Record
Our help is technical in nature: we make sure the app runs, signing in works and you find your way around. Everything to do with content stays with you, your health insurer and your doctor's practice. You will find an overview of our other services under services, the fixed prices are listed under prices.
Install the app
Together we find the right app from your health insurer, install it on your phone or tablet and check whether the device meets the requirements.
Guide the sign-in
Access is usually established with your health card and PIN or an identification procedure. We guide you step by step but never take card or PIN out of your hands: you operate both yourself.
Show how it works
We go through the areas of the app together: where to find documents, how to open a file and how to get back to the home screen.
Set up representation
If you would like a trusted person to be allowed to help, we show you where that can be set in the app. The decision is yours alone.
Secure the device
A device holding health data should have a screen lock. We set up a passcode or fingerprint and explain why that matters.
A cheat sheet for later
On request we write down the most important steps in plain words so you can get in without help next time.
Where We Help and Where We Do Not
Clear Boundaries So You Know What to Expect
Technical help yes, medical or legal advice no
The electronic patient record touches two areas in which we deliberately do not act: medicine and law. We do not tell you which findings should be in your record, how a document is to be understood or whether objecting would be sensible for you. Those questions belong in your doctor's practice, with your health insurer or, where legal points are involved, in appropriate legal advice. What we take on is the technical part: an app that runs, a sign-in that works and operation you master yourself. In our experience that is exactly the hurdle where most people get stuck. On request we read the home screen through together, but we do not open documents without your explicit request and only look at contents if you expressly wish it. Your health data is nobody else's business, including ours.
- We set up, explain and practise, we do not advise on contents
- Card, PIN and access details stay in your hands
- We only open documents if you expressly ask us to
- Questions about objecting, card or PIN are answered by your health insurer
The Most Common Hurdles During Setup
The same points come up again and again in our appointments. None of them is unsolvable, but each one can cost an afternoon of frustration at the kitchen table. If you know what to expect, the appointment is quickly done. For handling messages and calls safely, our guide on spotting phishing and fake calls is also worth reading.
Finding the right app
Every health insurer has its own app, and the store shows many similar names side by side. Together we find the right one and install it so you do not accidentally download the wrong thing.
PIN or card missing
Signing in often requires the health card with a PIN. If the PIN is missing, it has to be requested from your insurer. We tell you what is missing so you can reschedule the appointment if needed.
The phone is too old
Some older devices no longer support the necessary functions. We check that on site and say honestly if the device is the problem. When moving to a new phone, our data transfer helps.
Uncertainty about privacy
Many people want to know who can see the data before they start. We show you where the relevant settings sit in the app. The basics are covered in the data protection course.
What we expressly do not provide
How Your Appointment Works at Your Place
An appointment usually does not take long once the paperwork is at hand. You set the pace, and we repeat every step as often as you like. If you want to go deeper afterwards, book the smartphone course or the tablet course as one-to-one tuition.
Check the paperwork
Together we look at whether the health card, PIN and access details are available and whether your device meets the requirements. If something is missing, we tell you where to get it.
Install the app
We install your health insurer's app together on your phone or tablet and set it up so the text is easy to read and the handling suits you.
Guide the sign-in
You sign in yourself while we guide you step by step and explain what is happening on screen. Card and PIN stay in your hands throughout.
Practise operation
Together we go through how to move between areas, open a document and close it again. Repeated as often as it takes until it sticks.
Notes and protection
Finally we set up the screen lock and, on request, write down the most important steps. That way you get in on your own next time.
Request Help With Your Electronic Patient Record
We come to you, set up the app, guide the sign-in and practise using it. Home-visit flat rate 79 € up to 60 minutes, travel within 10 km included.
What to Have Ready for the Appointment
The more complete the paperwork, the more relaxed the appointment. You do not have to prepare or understand any of it, it is enough if everything is within reach. If something is missing, we clarify on the phone beforehand whether it is worth rescheduling, see contact.
- Your electronic health card
- The PIN for the health card, if you have received one
- The letter from your health insurer about the electronic patient record
- Your phone or tablet including its unlock code
- The app store login, in case an installation is needed
- If applicable, a trusted person who is to support you in future

Your insurer's hotline
- Responsible for card, PIN and objections
- Your screen is not visible over the phone
- Waiting times, especially at peak hours
- Explanations often in technical language
Trying it yourself
- Costs nothing but time
- Many steps in a row, each one can stall

What the Appointment Costs
You learn the price before the appointment so there are no surprises. For the setup alone a home visit is usually enough. If you would like to practise in more depth, one-to-one tuition is the better fit. All packages are listed under prices, everyday courses for the phone under computer courses.
